Kucina is founded in June 2016 by Chef Gero/Omar, a Muslim revert, who has over 26 years of experience in Italian cuisine. Realising that there’s no authentic and halal Italian food in Singapore, he decided to open the first one.
The word Kucina is inspired by the actual word "Cucina" which means kitchen in Italian. To suit the local enunciation of words, the letter K is used instead of C. Hence, the word KUCINA is formed.
The open concept kitchen is introduced to allow customers to have a first-hand view of the preparation of the food by the chefs. They will be able to witness the freshness of produce used and the passion that the chefs possess in order to deliver the best Halal Italian food. The name Kucina represents the essence and heart of the restaurant. For Italians, life revolves around the kitchen at home, with their mothers making fresh pasta, pizza, bread and the best Tiramisu.
Inspired by the ‘Trattoria’ style, the wooden tables, brick accent walls, cement floor and warm lightings depict the warmth, coziness and homely feel at Kucina. At the entrance, you will find the quintessential bespoke 1960’s Vespa to give the authentic feel of Italy.
Italian food is all about fresh ingredients and simplicity in the cooking, allowing the flavours to do the talking. These food are often enjoyed together as a family. Therefore at Kucina, we want to bring in the same experience through our extensive array of classic and authentic Italian food that customers can savour with their loved ones.
